Managing Published Surveys

After publishing, you can still manage your survey. This guide covers all management options.

Survey Statuses

Surveys have four possible statuses:

Pausing a Survey

Temporarily stop collecting responses.

When to Pause

  • Taking a break from collection
  • Reviewing early responses
  • Making changes to the survey
  • Reaching a temporary goal

How to Pause

  1. Go to your survey’s Details page
  2. Click “Pause Survey” button
  3. Confirm the action

What Happens When Paused

  • Status changes to “Paused”
  • New respondents see “Survey Unavailable”
  • Existing responses are preserved
  • Share link still exists but inactive
  • Can be resumed anytime

Resuming a Paused Survey

  1. Go to survey Details page
  2. Click “Resume Survey”
  3. Survey becomes active again

Closing a Survey

Permanently stop collecting responses.

When to Close

  • Data collection is complete
  • Survey period has ended
  • Project is finished
  • Survey is no longer relevant

How to Close

  1. Go to your survey’s Details page
  2. Click “Close Survey” button
  3. Confirm the action

What Happens When Closed

  • Status changes to “Closed”
  • No more responses can be collected
  • All existing data is preserved
  • Survey cannot be reopened
  • You can still view and export results

Note: Closing a survey is permanent. If you might want to collect more responses, use Pause instead.

Editing a Published Survey

You can still make changes to published surveys.

What You Can Edit

  • Survey title and description
  • Welcome and thank you messages
  • Question text and help text
  • Answer options
  • Required/optional settings
  • Conditional logic

What You Should Avoid Changing

  • Removing questions - Loses associated response data
  • Changing question types - May invalidate existing responses
  • Reordering significantly - Can confuse returning respondents

How to Edit

  1. Go to survey Builder tab
  2. Make your changes
  3. Changes save automatically
  4. Published survey updates immediately

Warning: Changes to a published survey affect the live version immediately. Preview your changes before saving.

Viewing Survey Details

The Details page shows:

Survey Information

  • Title and description
  • Current status
  • Creation date
  • Publication date
  • Survey slug/URL

Response Statistics

  • Total responses
  • Response limit
  • Responses remaining
  • Completion rate

Quick Actions

  • Edit survey
  • View results
  • View analytics
  • Pause/Resume/Close
  • Share options

Deleting a Survey

Remove a survey completely.

How to Delete

  1. Go to your dashboard
  2. Find the survey card
  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋮)
  4. Select “Delete”
  5. Confirm deletion

What Gets Deleted

  • Survey configuration
  • All questions
  • All responses
  • Analytics data

Warning: Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All data will be lost.

Alternative to Deletion

Instead of deleting, consider:

  • Closing - Keeps data for reference
  • Archiving - Close and keep for records

Moving to a Team

Transfer a personal survey to a team.

How to Transfer

  1. Go to survey Details page
  2. Click “Move to Team”
  3. Select the destination team
  4. Confirm the transfer

After Transfer

  • Survey appears under team surveys
  • Team members can access it
  • You retain access if you’re a team member

Duplicating a Survey

Create a copy of your survey.

How to Duplicate

  1. From the dashboard, find your survey
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮)
  3. Select “Duplicate”
  4. Enter a new title
  5. Create the duplicate

The new survey is created as a Draft with no responses.
